“To make use of my sixteen solar panels, which I’ve had for five years, I had a solar battery installed. The company Energy Matters recommended expertly planned it, and everything proceeded without a hitch. The battery operates flawlessly and informs me of how much energy I am using, how much it has stored, and how much energy I have sent to the grid. It has adequate energy reserves to generally survive the day, even on cloudy winter days.”

QLD Emissions vs Other States
Australia’s total greenhouse gas emissions was 535 million tonnes CO2-e in 2017. With 153 million of that total, QLD tops all the state and territories as being the most polluting in the country.

In 2020, renewable energy was responsible for 16.6% of Queensland’s total electricity generation. This is the second lowest proportion for any state or territory (with NT being the lowest). Though, there are many wind and solar farms proposals that will inject renewable energy into the grid.

You can join the many Queenslanders that are choosing to do their part for the environment, whilst saving money in the process, by installing solar!

QLD Total Net Emissions
The Australia Government calculates Queensland’s greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) as part of their national reporting to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Queensland’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2016 was 153 MtCO2e.

Emissions from electricity generation and usage (which falls under Stationary Energy) accounted for 48.1% of all GHG at 76.66 MtCO2e. This is a worrying figure as the emissions from electricity generation and usage has been steadily growing every reporting year.

Benefits of installing solar panels in Brisbane

Lower electricity bills

One of the most significant benefits of installing solar panels in Brisbane is the potential for lower electricity bills. Brisbane is known for its sunny climate, which means that solar panels can produce a lot of energy during the day. This energy can power your home or business, reducing your reliance on the grid and your energy bills. In fact, many solar panel installations can pay for themselves in just a few years through energy savings.

Environmental benefits

Solar panels are an environmentally-friendly way to generate electricity. Unlike traditional energy sources like coal or gas, solar power does not produce harmful emissions or contribute to climate change. By installing solar panels, you can reduce your carbon footprint and help protect the environment.

Increase property value

In addition to lower energy bills and environmental benefits, installing solar panels in Brisbane can also increase the value of your property. A solar panel installation can be a significant selling point for potential buyers, as it demonstrates your commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. In fact, studies have shown that homes with solar panels can sell for more than those without.

Energy security

Solar power provides energy security by reducing reliance on the grid. In the event of a power outage or other disruption, solar panels can continue to generate electricity, ensuring that you have power when you need it most. This can be particularly important in Brisbane, which is prone to severe weather events like storms and floods.

There are numerous benefits to installing solar panels in Brisbane, including lower energy bills, environmental benefits, increased property value, government incentives, and energy security. With its abundant sunshine and warm climate, Brisbane is an excellent place to harness the power of the sun and reduce your reliance on traditional energy sources. Whether homeowner or a business owner, installing solar panels can be a smart investment that pays off in numerous ways.

Comparison of solar panels vs traditional energy sources in Brisbane

Cost

One of the most significant differences between solar panels and traditional energy sources is cost. While traditional energy sources like coal and gas have historically been cheaper, the cost of solar panels has decreased significantly in recent years. In fact, solar power is now often the most cost-effective option for homeowners and businesses, particularly in sunny areas like Brisbane where solar panels can produce a lot of energy.

Environmental impact

Another key difference between solar panels and traditional energy sources is their impact on the environment. Traditional energy sources like coal and gas contribute to climate change and air pollution, while solar power produces no emissions and is a clean, renewable energy source. Switching to solar power can reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Reliability

While solar panels are a reliable source of energy in sunny areas like Brisbane, they do require sunlight to produce electricity. Traditional energy sources like coal and gas, on the other hand, can produce electricity 24/7 regardless of weather conditions. However, advancements in battery storage technology have made solar power more reliable by allowing excess energy to be stored for later use. ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Maintenance

Solar panels require very little maintenance compared to traditional energy sources like coal and gas. While traditional energy sources require ongoing maintenance and repairs to ensure they continue to operate effectively, solar panels only require occasional cleaning and inspection to ensure they are functioning at maximum efficiency.

Incentives

The Australian government offers generous incentives and rebates for homeowners and businesses that switch to solar power. These incentives can significantly reduce the cost of installing solar panels, making it an even more attractive option for those considering a switch. Traditional energy sources, on the other hand, do not typically offer incentives or rebates for use.

There are several differences between solar panels and traditional energy sources in Brisbane. While traditional energy sources have historically been cheaper and more reliable, solar power is now often the most cost-effective and environmentally-friendly option.

Additionally, solar panels require less maintenance and offer government incentives, making them an attractive option for homeowners and businesses looking to switch to renewable energy. Ultimately, deciding to switch to solar power will depend on individual needs, budgets, and priorities.
