The Australian Solar Council and the Energy Storage Council have combined to form the Smart Energy Council.
The Council is a new peak industry body for the solar, storage and smart energy industries.
Smart Energy Council chief executive John Grimes is confident Australia will adopt Smart Energy in the near future.
“We represent the most innovative renewable energy leaders in the field,” he said. “We are transforming to better reflect our members and Australia’s energy future.
“We have been enormously successful in the past, and will continue to work with our members to support Australia’s Smart Energy transition. Australia has the world’s best solar scientists, the world’s highest uptake of household solar, and is also a world leader in energy storage.”
4 million solar users can’t be wrong
Mr Grimes added that four million Australian homes have solar on their rooftops, while over 6,000MW of solar PV has been installed. That number will grow, he added.
“That’s because Australians know solar works. Solar saves money. Solar is the cheapest way to generate new electricity, bar none.”
In addition, Grimes says clean energy is also evolving rapidly and becoming cheaper and smarter.
“Our members are at the forefront of developing cheap renewables. Cheap battery storage, off river pumped hydro and other forms of energy storage, are also being harnessed by Smart Energy IT systems, to bring together a complete and affordable solution.”
Smart Energy Council: Continuing a long energy legacy
Tracing its history back to 1954, the Smart Energy Council is the peak body for the solar, storage and smart energy industries.
It is the peak industry not-for-profit organisation committed to clean, efficient, cheap and smart energy solutions.
In the past, Energy Storage Council members benefited from its policy and advocacy activities and news updates. The Council also ran industry events and training opportunities.
Together with the Solar Council’s advocacy on behalf of solar PV, the Smart Energy Council will inspire the next generation of solar users.
