Tusmore, Adelaide, was the location of the incredible home featured in episode 7 of Open Homes Australia. Viewers were greeted by the amazing James Treble as he met with the homeowner of the awe-inspiring, French-inspired home. Arched windows and doorways, the steeply pitched roof, and the front courtyard, all add to the classical architecture of the home.
A little piece of Paris in Adelaide
Classical moulding, white, grey, and slate grey tones, plus the paved courtyard welcome visitors to the beautiful house that was a knock-down rebuild. Inside the house, visitors are met with grand chandeliers, parquetry floorboards, and gorgeous moulded, coffered ceilings. The classical furniture pieces and décor accent the white walls, ceiling, moulding, and built-in cabinetry.
The powder room provides an explosion of colour whilst maintaining the elegant and classical French theme. Homeowner Delilah spent many a day selecting the perfect floral wallpaper for the powder room, and her final choice is breathtaking.
The kitchen is where the French inspiration is truly breathtaking. The oven and stovetop combo, tapware, cabinetry, and benchtop all perfectly round out the classical theme. The kitchen forms one part of the enormous living space that includes the dining room and living room. This space is surrounded by large windows that provide plenty of natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.
Solar technology putting the Adelaide sun to work
The large spaces and plentiful windows create a challenge for heating and cooling. But thanks to the large solar system installed by SunEnergy, the quarterly electricity bills of $1,200 are now down to zero! SunEnergy is a leading solar retailer that provides solar installation services across South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria, and Queensland. They provide solar panels, inverters, battery storage, EV chargers, and hot water system installations.
Roshan explained that the homeowners required that the solar panel installation be invisible from the street, and SunEnergy were able to provide this via a 20kW solar system and 27kW of Tesla Powerwall battery storage. The system provides an average of 80kW of electricity to the home every day, with excess power stored in the batteries for use at night and on cloudy days.
With four air conditioning units, the homeowners will be able to stay comfortable throughout the day and night, and all seasons, thanks to their solar system and battery storage solution.
