Quotes attributable to the Chief Executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI):

Tony Weber, the Chief Executive of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), expressed his optimism about the continuous growth in electric vehicle sales, especially given the ongoing challenges related to vehicle supply.

“The early adopters of the new powertrain technology continue to push up the sales of electric vehicles across the country,” Mr Weber said.

“The steady introduction of new battery electric models across all model segments at more competitive price points is critically important as we deal with the challenges of supplying electric vehicles that meet business and personal consumer needs at prices the mainstream buyers can afford.”

EV sales reflect the increasing awareness and adoption of sustainable transportation among consumers

The first half of 2023 saw a significant surge in electric vehicle sales in Australia. This rise in electric vehicle sales reflects the increasing awareness and adoption of sustainable transportation options among consumers. Several factors have contributed to this growth, including the availability of a wider range of electric vehicle models, improved charging infrastructure, and EV government incentives to promote electric vehicle adoption.

Looking ahead, the electric vehicle market in Australia is poised for further expansion. The commitment of governments, both at the federal and state levels, to reduce emissions and transition to cleaner transportation will likely result in more favourable policies and incentives. As technology continues to improve and prices become more competitive, electric vehicles are likely to become even more mainstream, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for Australia’s transportation sector.
