SMA operations and maintenance (O&M) services and central inverters have been selected for a 140 MW solar farm in Kingston, Ontario.
The project, which will be the largest solar installation in Canada when completed in 2015, is being constructed by Kingston Solar LP.
Delivery of 125 Sunny Central 800CP-US inverters will occur later this year. The Sunny Central CP-US line offer 98.7 percent conversion efficiency and SMA’s intelligent temperature management system; plus grid management functions to address utility requirements. According to SMA, the 800CP-US provides nominal power at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C and 10% additional power for continuous operation at ambient temperatures up to 25 °C.
SMA Service will assume operational management of the project upon commercial operation and then for the following ten years. The company is also the provider for long-term O&M services and central inverters for the 130 MW DC Grand Renewable Solar project in Haldimand County, Ontario. That facility will generate enough electricity to power more than 16,000 Canadian homes
Henry Dziuba, president of SMA Canada said the company is proud to be selected to power and maintain Canada’s two largest PV systems.
In other recent news from SMA, a post on the company’s blog said the recent recommendations of the Warburton Review if implemented would “have a devastating impact on our industry” and offers 5 reasons why the Renewable Energy Target should be left alone. SMA Australia says it will be supporting the Clean Energy Council in its various activities initiated to pressure the Government against implementing the RET review recommendations.
SMA is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of solar inverters. It produces a compatible inverter for every type of module on the market and for all plant types and sizes. SMA solar inverters are a popular choice for home solar power systems in Australia. The company also now offers a Flexible Home Energy Storage solution for Australian solar households, available through Energy Matters.
