Yingli Solar Panda Series solar panels have been used in a major rooftop project in the Midlands, United Kingdom.
5.8 MW of Panda Series modules have been installed across approximately 35,000 square metres by Kingspan Energy and will generate approximately 5.5 MWh of electricity per year; enough to power 1,500 homes.
Panda monocrystalline solar panels use n-type solar cells with average efficiencies above 19.5% and an overall module efficiency of 16.2%.
Yingli says it has a bright future in the UK sector.
“The UK has seen unprecedented growth in this last quarter with hundreds of megawatts of PV –being deployed ahead of the Q2 ROC adjustment,” said Mr. Ramin Dilmaghanian, Business Development Director UK, Yingli Green Energy.
“We believe that demand for large-scale rooftop projects with a self-consumption model will, in the coming months, continue to provide a stable backbone for the UK market.”
The UK is set to be to be the largest solar PV market in Europe in 2014; with hundreds of large-scale solar facilities currently at various stages of planning. Around 15,000 renewables jobs in the UK last year were in the solar sector.
In other Yingli Solar news, the company announced last week that its Turkish subsidiary will supply 30 MW of YGE Series modules to Tekno Ray Solar, Turkey’s fastest-growing solar energy company. The YGE Series panels will be installed in several large scale solar projects in the southern part of Turkey .
Yingli Solar is the world’s largest manufacturer of solar panels and is also gaining a greater foothold in Australia, where its YGE Series panels in particular are becoming a common sight on Australian rooftops. Parent company Yingli Green Energy has more than 30 regional subsidiaries and branch offices and has shipped more than 9,000 MW of solar panels worldwide.
