Solarfun Power Holdings Co., Ltd. announced yesterday that its Board of Directors have approved a name change to Hanwha SolarOne. It’s understood that Solarfun solar panels will be marketed in future as “SolarOne” modules.
The company says the change is designed to strengthen its brand worldwide and the strategic business partnership with Hanwha Chemical, which owns nearly half o of Solarfun.
Dr Peter Xie, President and CEO, says that following Hanwha’s investment in Solarfun in mid-September, the two companies have been working closely together to develop a long-term strategy to grow Solarfun into a top three solar panel manufacturer by 2015.
In other Solarfun news, the company announced it has opened an office in Milan to increase regional access to the company’s products and provide technical and marketing support for utility, business, and residential customers. Solarfun has been steadily increasing its presence in Italy, with recent agreements signed to deliver 20.4 MW of solar panels to 9REN Group for a new solar farm in Italy and a contract with Gestamp Asetym Solar for approximately 11 MW of PV modules. The modules will be used for solar parks in both Spain and Italy , scheduled to be operational in mid 2011.
Solarfun solar panels in Australia have been a popular choice for home solar power system installations.
